1992 300D Air Conditioning Issues

First time on the forum. I have had this 1992 300D for about 16 months. Air has been the best. Blows way to cool and the fan volume was incredible, better than other cars I have owned. Last week the air volume/fan buttons started acting up. The only button that was working was the high button on the top. It was still blowing cold but at half the volume that high used to put out and the others weren't working at all. Get in this morning to take the kids to school and get nothing. Could it be a fuse or a relay?

I have a hard time finding a diesel mechanic in my area that is honest and doesn't pad the crap out of their bills.

Thanks so much for any info.

I have done a lot of reading. General symptoms seem to be the blower motor or loose connections in the dash buttons. Any feelings either way? Ac kicks in but a very faint amount of air flow out. Money is sooooo tight - I can't spend $1000 at the shop. My husband is wicked handy so I wanted to get ideas of what he should check out. Thanks. Noel

My husband dug into my car today. He replaced the burshes in the blower motor and all is working well. It seems I need to replace the blower regulator. Anyone have any specific sites they like to buy parts from? I found a new one for $225 or used on ebay for $100. Don't know if I should trust that a used one is fine but money is tight so it seems like the way to go. Called around and can't find any parts in any junk yards where I live.

Thanks for the help. Happy Holidays to all. Noel

this is the auction for what I need. I have called around to many juck yards or you pull it places and I am getting no where. The local Napa said they can get me one for $417. So $100 sounded good to me but am scared to take the chance that is actually works.

Where would you look for one? Thanks for your help. Noel

I don't know what a blower resistor pack is. All the listings I saw that matched my Bosch part # said it was a blower regulator.
