Hello,
a couple months back i made some post about getting my 240D running.. after trying just about everything + new battery... i got it running

then life got very busy so i havnt got a chance to work on it since... Now that i have some time in the summer im guna try to make this car be something that i can drive everyday..

list of known problems...

- car runs without key... only was to shut it off is to stall
- burns through oil like gas
- extremely loud!!!!
- when it starts smoke from the engine
- tons of smoke from the exaust
- brakes are mushy.... and pulse when applied
- stearingwheel has some tough spots... when turning left i come to a spot while rotating the steeringwheel where i have to force it over what feels like a bump.

i actually got it for free from a family friends after it sat for 2 years...
should i be looking for a different car besides a 240D?

im in love with the mercedes from that era so do you have any suggestions on a good simple car from around the same era?
