I've had my 87 300 sdl with 266,000 miles for 2 years now and it is starting to run a little rough like it has a miss. When I accelerate it seems to smooth out. I know it could be a million things but could I get some things to check in order of likelyhood? Maybe valve timing or injection pump? It will have a tough time starting in the winter if I don't fix it. I also still get 25-30 mpg so it doesn't seem to be affecting the fuel milage. I have changed the fuel filters.

just an update. I did check the glow plugs and they are fine. I unhooked the EGR valve and caped off the vacuum line. I cut up a pop can and blocked off the where the valve bolts into the intake manifold. What a difference! The car runs smoothly cold and after it warms up. Plus the cruise control works better than before due to the vacuum being plugged off.
