Default 1987 190d No Glow Light

My wifes 190d has no glow light, the buzzer will buzz, car is rough to start in morning. After it's been started it will start easier than initially, depending on how long it sits, and how cold it is. I imagine the glow plug/plugs need to be replaced. Can anyone tell me if I'm on the right track with the plugs. Other than having to ream the plug holes is there anything else I should do to do this right.
Thanks for reading my post Happy New Year!!!

If you go to the Diesel Giant Website he has a pictorial on checking the Glow Plugs with a Volt/Ohm meter.
If you are in the US Harbor Freight stores sell the Digital Meters for $5 or less. No matter who you buy from get a Digital Meter.

I forgot to mention if the Glow Plugs do come out there is a tool to ream the Carbon out of the Glow Plug hole. The Carbon build up will shorten the life of the new Glow Plugs.

In fact if you are able to pull all of the Glow Plugs out and Ream out the Carbon some have said that it made cold weather starting easier ounce the carbon was reamed out.

In the pic below on the far right is a Factory Made Glow Plug Reamer as sold by Zdmak and El Paso Tools on Ebay. Baum Tool also makes them and a few Internte Parts Sellers also sell the same one.
The one on the far left is my Homemade version that I make as sort of a Hobby that pays for itself. It does the same thing for less money.

Once again, Thank you very much. You have put my fears on doing this myself to rest. I thought a reamer was going to be a drill bit type, in which I was afraid of messing up the glow plug port. Or just making a mess.
Sincerely

What would prevent me from pulling the glow plugs out??Shouldn't they unscrew like a spark plug??If they don't just come out (like I hope), what should I do?? I'm a rookie at this diesel repair stuff. I've done tune-ups,brakes,exhaust,suspension repairs before, but never have laid hands on a diesel.

Hey what is the difference between the two at el paso tool that one costs 35.oo and the other 90.00, is it the more expensive one will last longer, where the cheaper is a throw away? would it really matter which one I bought?

I have just found this club and have an 81 diesel. It is very hard to start even when it is 100 degress in the shade. The glow plug light comes on and i keep letting it repeat itself untill it fires. ive had this ol truck 16 years and have only bought a starter. just replaced the fuel filter no help. is there any way to check the glow plugs with out taking them out? Im sure this has been asked before but i have had now luck finding the answer. thanks a lot. a real oldtimer
