Ok I have got myself into more then i can chew on. I just bought a 83 300D for 300$ it was my grandmother neighbors car. The car ran in 2003, but the owner died and it sat since. I tried to turn it over but the glow plug light is out, tested the plugs and they do seem bad. I have no idea about mercedes nor diesels. the car has 145,000 miles. I am going to replace the plugs tomorrow. I have no idea on what needs to be servicer or anything else. there is photos at the attached link. any info, commits anything is welcomed. another thing that i can't under stand is the car is a 83 but not a turbo diesel and the date on the firewall says 1970. i am totally confused and have no idea if the car is an import or what it is.....oh god i need infomation.....

wow rare, you made my day. I guess I don't feel to bad about spending money getting it up and running again. I am going to throw new glow plugs in tomorrow and hope that will get the life back it. I noticed the car has a leaking fuel pump where the primer button is. I am going to check this out more tomorrow. It is a 4 speed.

 

well got the glow plugs in, what a pain, one was froze it. had to remove the injector lines to get to them. found the heater house needs to be replaced, but nothing is open since its easter. It started up on around the 7th try. smokes like a motha, the gas and odometer works some what, the turn signals aren't flashing inside the drivers does nothing, heater controls won't budge, engine stays running, nothing vacuum is working. transmission seems to jerk a lot. don't know how to drive a stick so it could be normal. been reading a lot on how to fix some of these problems but any info would help too.
