1981 240D - accelerator cable

Hi -

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement accelerator cable for my 1981 240D ? Neither the dealership, nor Adsit nor Mercedes Source carries it ! Thanks

They can't carry something that doesn't exist! You do not have such a part on your car.

Oh ! Hi JustAghost, am I naming it incorrectly? It seemed to come up under that name at the MB dealership, and at pelican parts, but no longer available. The metal cable that connects the pedal to the throttle body under hood. Cable is very loose, and pedal doesn't engage the throttle body until 75% of the way to the floor.

Here's the schematic below:

I don't see a cable so now I'm confused. However, there's a message from my MB dealership:

THE ACCELERATOR CABLE, P/N A123 300 17 32, IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Pelican also lists the same part number, also NLA. Is it possible some installed a cable where there shouldn't have been one ?

Also, this car was originally sold in Italy, not sure if that matters.

Doug - I would suggest giving us a call at 888-280-7799 and one of our MB part specialists can help you out. If the part is NLA, there may be one that superseded it or our part specialists can recommend a working alternative.

That part has no affect on your throttle slop. That picture is not applicable to your year of car.
Part number 158 is the most likely fault point in your throttle linkage. Put a weight on the throttle and inspect the rubber portion of that bushing for rips.

accelerator cable

Hi JustaGhost,

I just wanted to say you were right all along ! The cable I was looking at was the idle adjustment cable, there's no accelerator cable. Thanks for your help.
