1977 240d

Hi.

I am looking at purchasing a 1977 240D. It has 168,000 miles and runs well. It is in need of shocks and a rear bumper. The price is $850.

Any advice on this model or the diesel engine would be appreciated. I have not owned a diesel model before.

Thank you.

Daniel

$850 for a complete car seems like a good deal. I'd buy it if it runs good. Did you drive it? A lot depends on your ability or the ability of your local Mercedes mechanic.

I have a 1977 240d with well in excess of 327 thousand miles on it (as of two dealers and 1 owner ago that I can find) and the speedometer does not work (of course) my car gets 30 mpg combined with about 30-40 percent of that highway I bought this vehicle in april of this year so yes I am quite pleased with this vehicle it is not perfect (need to fix the A/C and speedometer) other than that this vehicle performs well ... one word of caution though if you want a vehicle that has quick acceleration this is not the vehicle for you...if you want good mpg and reliability then this is your car
