Default 1975 300D Very hard to start when engine has warmed up.

Tonight I was going to take my wife to the movie(never got that far.) after driving 20mins or so decided to pull over and put some more fuel in to the car(pearl is her name"the car not my wife") anyway after doing so car would not start...she turned over but no lift off. I thought maybe some air in the lines...so I bled the the fuel lines....still nothing...Just a dead battery and a bill for towing.
This is the first time I could not start the car when warm, but not the first it was hard to start after have been driving a while turning it off and then trying to start it again.
Anybody had a similar problem? Or any words of wisdom?
Thanks in advance.

Did you run out of fuel before pulling over? (engine hesitated?)
Did you prime the pump after refilling?

Hi Again..
I had plenty of fuel. And yes I did prime it after I fill it with more fuel.

Perhaps there is a problem with the shutoff vacuum solenoid on the back of the pump. These normally only cause the problem of not being able to switch off the car. If your getting fuel out of the injector lines when cranking then this will not be the problem.

Also, when you primed it, was there plenty of fuel flowing through. Perhaps you picked up some water which may cause a problem with the strainer in the tank. Take a fuel sample and check it in a glass jar.
