1975 240d w115 A/C removal
I am thinking about removing my complete A/C. What pitfalls would I encounter? I see hoses going into the firewall. It hasn't been working since I bought it 2 months ago. The pulley is making a high pitch whinning noise also. What would happen if I removed the belt only? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I removed the belt from the A/C and nothing happened. I'd hoped that the whistling whinning noise coming from front of the car would be gone, but no.
The noise is high pitched and it doesn't change in pitch or volume with the rpm of the engine, but soon as I start the engine it is there. It sounds like it is coming out the dash vent on the passenger side.
I had my suspension looked at today and the rear boots are torn and the right rear sway bar end link is broken. I am getting an estimate from the Auto hobby shop on base, but if it is more than I want to pay I will attempt it myself.
