Default 1-2 Shift Feels Weird

1985 190d 2.2 NON turbo
Starting from a stop the 1-2 shift feels a little weird... not like its slipping.. but just kinda un-even, then it grabs gear 2. its not like a shift flare, but just uneven. once it grabs it seems just fine though.
when the car is cold, it shifts just fine.

I just bought this car for $900 - 305k Miles on it. Its in really good shape!

Every Automatic vehicle I own, I always put on an additional transmission cooler... Never put one on a merc Diesel though...
maybe it would help?
are the clutch packs wearing out in my tranny?

thanks!!

I know that pretty much ALL cars have the "radiator" cooler... that dosent really count... I was referring to an EXTRA one. Will adjusting the Vac on the pump change the shift points.. or what exactly?

Like I said im used to the 5 cyl motors where the IP is easily accessable... this one seems to be buried a bit under the intake

I cant get to the IP winthout taking the intake off... the only thing on there that appears to be adjustable is a black think secured with screws on the back of the IP but it has wires, not vacuum lines coming out of it... is this the adjustment?

thanks!

I have never seen a 190 so cannot help you with how to adjust the Vacuum Valve.

However, here is an article how vacuum and adjusting the vacuum effects your transmission.
