Mercedes may build a convertible roadster version of its popular SLR supercar, according to Britain's WhatCar? magazine. The $450,000 car is currently only offered as a coupe, despite the fact that it was shown in concept form in both coupe and convertible forms. The SLR — build as a partnership between Mercedes and McLaren — has a 626bhp V8 engine and can hit 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Mercedes and McLaren are also reportedly considering building a less expensive supercar to challenge the Ferrari F430. See larger images of the SLR roadster concept after the jump…

RE: Possibly No More SLR McLaren?

I want one. I don't care what they call it, how much it costs, or what I see when I look up. I want one.

RE: Possibly No More SLR McLaren?

most people who will buy this car, $450,000 is chump change. And I can gurantee it's a Mercedes with Mercedes gadgets with Mercedes problems.

Yeah it might work just perfect the first few months, long enough for some paid off money grubbing car magazine to give it a good electronic reliability rating. Then by the six month to the year and a half mark, mess really hits the fan and the glitches really start to come out and play. Plus I notice that the more money people spend on a car the more willing they are to complain or report the problem. How many times have you come across a statement like " A $70,000 vehicle should not havre these type of electical problems." I feel what they are saying but what about a $20,000 new vehicle? Do you expect the new Mustang or the new 300 to have a bunch of electriacl glitches?

And then these Japenese paid magazines that rate any Jap car that come across the desk with high numbers...
Then when one of these cars have a problem, people see that these magazines rate them as excellent so people start to think that the problem them Japanese cars have are what "excellent" cars suppose to have. The best way to find out information about any car is either go buy one yourself, go test drive one, or ask the owners.

I dont expect any new car to have any problem. This is y i wont buy a new car cause i want the glitches to be fixed while someone else owned it.

RE: Possibly No More SLR McLaren?

Sometimes the previous owner doesn't fix the glitches and or they are impoperly fixed promting the owner to sell it in te first place.
