Rear Dashcam Interference with XM on 2021 GLC
Hi Guys,
I recently switched cars from a 2017 C Class to a 2021 GLC. I had a Rexing front and rear dashcam in the 2017, removed it, and had it installed in the new 2021 GLC. In the new car when I turn on XM it cuts out, it pretty much goes on for about 3 seconds then silence. I was able to figure out that it was the dashcam. Unplug the dashcam and the radio immediately comes back, plug it in and it shuts off. So I started testing if it was the connections, wires, power, etc and was able to determine that when the rear dashcam was plugged in XM stopped working. As I pulled the camera away from the rear glass the radio came back, closer to the glass worse it got, so I do not think its the cable between the front and back. After searching and reading a bunch of posts of people with the same or similar issues on all different types of cars I did the following: I checked the ground I connected some ferrite cores I checked different positions on the rear windshield I now have 1 ferrite core at the front unit wire going to the back, 1 core on the power wire, 2 cores at the rear for the rear camera wire and 1 more on the rear camera wire that loops around itself. I also found the top driver side area got the least interference. It's still not perfect but it may be manageable. Anyone know if this is fixable? Would another dashcam work better? or do I just need to live without a rear dashcam when using XM? Thanks in advance... |
