Radar Detector

Does anyone have any advice on what radar detector to buy and where should it be hard wired into? I have a 2000 E320. Thanks, Alan

There's only one radar detector worth buying. The Valentine One. They are a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Check around the Web and you'll find a cult following for them.

I would tap into a switched accessory. I don't know anything about an E320 so I can't be any more specific than that.

you should save the money for ur ticket..advise from the cop that clocked me at 90mph in 65mph.

Tell that to the many cops who tried to give me a ticket but couldn't because I knew they were shooting radar or laser and I slowed down before they could clock me.

If you're saying that radar detectors won't prevent all speeding tickets, then I'll agree with that.

If you're saying that radar detectors won't help you avoid any tickets at all, then I'd say you're mistaken.

Get the V1. It seems expensive but I've had mine for over 3 years and it's saved me plenty of times. I had a $100 Uniden model prior to the V1 and there is just no comparison. I feel very vulnerable when I'm driving a car without the V1 in it. I'm sure it has paid for itself seveal times over by now. I have mine hard wired to a 12V constant wire that I found underneath the ceiling lamp/sunroof control panel in my '04 and '05 C Class Sedan. I've tried unsuccessfuly to wire it to a switched 12V source for extra convenience in both cars but with no luck. I've tested every wire I found there and none seem to switch on/off with the car's ignition. If anyone here has done so successfully, please let me know which one you used. You can use one of the sunroof motor retaining bolts as a ground for your detector.
