Default 1989 300 SE Antenna

My antenna rises only mid way although the switch on the dash is set for full. The motor does not try to rise it anymore then halfway. Could it be the switch on the dash or in the motor assembly? Mast? Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: 1989 300 SE Antenna

Most likely it would be the antenna mast. This has teeth along the white lower plastic string being spooled inside. The antenna rises and goes down with the mast being engaged on a mating plastic gear turned the motor. Overtime, the teeth/grid on the antenna mast wears down rendering it not anymore to mess properly with the spooling gear. Installation should be about 10 min. with a help to turn the radio on while you pull out the mast.
