I am thinking about buying a 99 slk 230 kompressor,it has done 71,000k with full service history from a benz dealer visually it is like new and mechanically it seems ok and the roof deploys and retracts ok.Is there anything in particular i should look for before i buy and watch out for in future, also is there any reliability issues with them and any known recurring problems. The car is very appealing but i would like to know a little more about them first.i hope someone can answer me reasonably quick as i don't think it will be long before it is sold to somebody and i would like it to be me......regards jbird90

I bought a 1999 SLK 230 kompressor about 4 months ago and already put on 9000 miles with no problems. The only thing I need to do is replacing the shift linkage bushings. There is a rattle in the shift lever. My car now has 52000 miles on it. I am happy with this car. But buying a used car can always be risky.
