Angry Seat Handwheel

I have a late model 1989 560sl and I'm trying to replace the upper seat hinge cover on the driver's side. (The one with the hole in it) I cannot figure out how to get the handwheel for the seat backrest adjustment off. The manual says to pry up the center hub of the wheel and then remove it. But the wheel and hub seem to be one piece and the center hub will not come off.
Any suggestions?

I found my own answer, finally. On the later models the wheel is on a spline like a steering wheel. Just grasp both side if the wheel and pull firmly with equal pressure. It come right off.
