Default egr tube cleaning

I want to clean my egr tube.. My question is am I able to remove the tube only without taking the whole valve off with it? Register today for free or log in if already registered to remove this ad!

Yes, you will be able to take just the tube out, but you have to manuver little with it ones it's loose, since it has a bent to it. Loosen it up at the EGR valve first, then at the intake manufold. Watch for the thin gasket between tube flange and manufold. Mine was clogged completely.

Do you have to work under the engine to get to the EGR valve and tube?

No, but over the top of your engine behind the right side cylinder bank next to throttle valve body. Easy task, half hour and you done. Here is picture of my tubing at about 150K miles, it was completely shut closed!

thanks, do you recommend buying the new tube and gaskets and be done with it? I see some other members attempt to clean it out with Gummout, not sure if that is effective or not and whether you can really get to all the walls inside that tube that way. I just ordered a new tube and gaskets anyway, for 100 bucks what the heck......which includes me ordering the brake light switch too, to eliminate the left two brake light warnings on the instrument cluster. (or so they say on here...)

I installed new tube and gasket, it will be a lot harder for the carbon to stick to it and start acumulation. I replaced my brake light switch last week, it was $12 from dealer.

Does the part on the attached image need replaced too? I saw another site that said it should be, as it may be brittle and break. If so, what is it called and does anyone have the part#?
