Hey guys,

I have a question for you all.......I have a friend who just bought a CLK 1999 model convertible 4 cylinder compressor!... it's a nice car don’t get me wrong, but he has an AMG badge at the back and he keeps claiming its an AMG." MYAMG this MY AMGthat I love MY AMG!"....the thing is this..... my dad drives a CLK55 2005AMGand I ama big fan of the AMG and I get insulted each time he calls his car an AMG. There is so much more to an AMG then just a badge. But he keeps insisting it’s an AMG. He argues that in 1999 Mercedes-Benz made a 2.3 LTR compressor AMG? And I’m just jealous! I always thought that AMG made big V8's???But, he argues passionately about it! Anyway,Itook his word for it... but, nothing seems to come up on the net about it. Hmmm maybe you guys would know? Did AMG really bring out a CLK compressor or is this guy just another fkn wankerrr??

The engine cover should have a large "AMG" badge..........probably easier to look for 'AMG" on the steering wheel (on airbag cover) or inside the numerals of the speedometer or the floor mats.......also, the VIN for AMG models has a '7' in the sixth position

 

well they actually did have one.. but take the other post and sneek a peek.. your freind should be more humble oh well..

as far as i know, they never made a 230 komp amg. i think they made some fitted with amg bodykits but never an actual "amg 230" im sure somone on here knows better as im no expert.

 

No such thing as a 1999 CLK AMG.It just has the badge on the rear of it. Some owners just do that. For example my 2002 E320I bought about a year old came with an AMG badge. I dont call it my AMG or any of that. I just dontwant to take it off because it harm the paint or something.The production modelfor the AMG for the CLK came out in 2001 with the CLK 55 AMG. It was a 5.5 342bhp V8 Engine.

 

Tell your buddy hes a posser... AMG models for that car came out in the late 2000, but they were 2001 models, plus I dont think they made a convertible AMG model till 2002.. BUT THE FACT IS ALL AMG MODELS HAVE BIG ENGINES... V8's, You think MB engineers would waste time on a 4 cylinder
