Default $2000 Catalytic converters

[>:] My mechanic told me that my 99 SLK 230 needs 1 of the 2 catalytic converters. He noted that MB asked for more than $2000 for both of the converters. I suggested that aftermarket merely cost 50% of what the MB is asking. My mechanic stated that it may yield a check engine light, possible for installing an aftermarket converter. Any one has this experience? what about if I decided not to spend the money, louder noise? Register today for free or log in if already registered to remove this ad!

Same here, not as long but no problems. Magnaflow 59905 x2. Just over $200 installed (great shop, barely charged anything. friend of a friend.)

[&:]thanks guys for the prompt, encouraging, and assuring responds. I feel better in approaching this problem tomorrow.

by the way, my mechanic told me this afternoon that he felt more confident to suggest an aftermarket CAT for me after talking to another shop. I will look at the web to see where to get what you two recommended. thanks a ton.

Default Magnaflow

Which Magnaflow cat would you recommend for 2002 S430, I have the same problem, and the rattling noise is killing me.
