How many miles are the Mercedes good for?
I lived in Germany for some years (I still go there 5 times a year), and there are so many private cars and taxis with one million or more kms that it is incredible. By the way, when these are finally sold, most of them go to Africa to continue running. A friend of mine was able to track his 240D which is now in Morocco working as a taxi.
Keep in mind that most cars in Europe are Diesels and also run on low sulphur fuel. I do not believe that Diesels in US will run as long, as we use really junky high sulfur Diesel. As to gas engines, I think that for them to reach those distances they can do it, but they will need more maintenance.

from reading all your posts, mine should definately last for 500k miles or better.
i only drive it a total of 12 miles per day. back & forth to work.
however, i took the long way via the interstate cause i felt like max needed to run and momma felt the need for speed.
can't really see how fast he can go due to all the construction going on. someday tho...
i guess i need to take the long way from now on. at least when i gotta take him for service, i gotta drive 45 minutes away.
i must say tho, when we took him to the mountains last weekend, even my hubby was impressed. 29.2 mpg in the mountains. up and down and all around. comfortable trip.

Thread resurrections FTW.
My wife and I just got a 1990 300ce and it rolled over 325,000 miles the other day. It does have some minor issues, but it's mechanically sound. I like the fact that you can actually service the transmission on it unlike the auto transmissions in BMW's and other european imports.
