As complete newcomer can someone help with car comparisons? for instance between a 1996/9 S500 coupe and a CL500 of the same period. Is there anything that would cause a significant choice between one car or the other?

Hello dodders, I too found myself wondering about the differences as I'd totaled my 1995 S500 and was in the position to get either a 99 CL500 or a 2000 CL500. After a little research, I went with the 2k version. The reason is that I had found out that 99 was more like an "S" Class, minus two doors. Where as, the 2k version is and was a whole new sports car on to itself. The only downside is that in 2000 there was no AMG version. I got the 2000 version and wished that I had at least gotten the 2004 AMG. . . . Oh well. I'm still very happy with the car though. Soon, I'll just pick up some 19" AMG wheels and call it a night. 17" wheels are stock on the 2k version. I would finally suggest that you do some more independent research before making a purchase. Good luck, Vinzo
