I too would be interested. I have a 2001 SLK320 with the auto-tinting. Last year, the tint bled between the glass panels. Stealer wants $250 for the part. A step by step replacement procedure would be helpful if anyone knows the procedure.
One step that was left out on the mirror replacement, was 2 more screws have to be removed from the overhead light before the console can be removed. If you don't remove, you will break the light fixture.
I am looking into a glass replacement that glues over the driver's side rearview. It is only $40. Anybody try this option? MB wanted $485 to replace the mirror!!!!
I received a replacement an outside rearview mirror glass replacement from autoglassonly.com for $30 plus shipping. I followed the easy directions and tapped out the existing fogged glass on my 2002 230 slk with a hammer. Surprisingly, I found that what I had just tapped out was a glass covering that went through an abortion when the fluid leaked. Guess the abortion left it foggy. I removed all the shards, and the mirror underneath was fine. I can't return the mirror I bought but that's ok. This beats paying almost $500 to replace it from the dealer. I can live without a heated mirror...I live in he desert.
