Default Air Intake Filter.

At what service is this checked and changed A or B?
Just had A service on Monday and I forgot to ask.
All that was mentioned on the service report was the
oil change, parts to complete it, and labor. Thanks for
the help.

its accually not replaced at either service. it a recommendation in the service manual at approx. 40k. During the B service they usually replace the cabin filter, you can ask them to substitute the cabin filter for the engine air cleaner instead. it cost a little bit more than the cabin filter and its worth doing it sooner than later.

My Kompressor has 47k on the odo.
I bought it pre owned last summer
when it was @ 37k. I have no record
of it ever being replaced. Is this
something that I can easily do myself?
In other words is this replacement just
as simple as any other car air filter?

Talking

Easy. All you need is a torx head. Loosen the black screws on top of the air filter cover right there on the top of the engine and lift the cover off. NOT the one with the Mercedes logo on it, but the smaller cover more toward the driver's side of the engine. Yes, that one. Inside you will see the filter held in by the front "tab" if you can call it that. It's just pushed in...so...lift it up from the front and pull it out. Vacuum the dirt and junk out of the box while you are in there, and then put the new filter in (round end first) and push the front "tab" back in the slot and put the cover back on. Don't overtighten the screws. The box is only plastic and you will strip the screws. Snug is fine. That's it. You can buy the filters online or at the local parts place. Don't pay a ton for them. I use a K&N, but that story has been hashed and re-hashed a million times here, so I won't bore you to death with it again.
