I recently bought a 123 '77 280E in excellent condition. The trans. only shifts twice hopefully from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. I have had other MBs that start off in second so it doesn't surprise me but the engine seems to be revving higher at speed and makes me wonder if it is starting in 1st and shifting only to 3rd. Does anyone know if this car is supposed to start in 2nd?
