190E 2.6 Won't Start
Hello everyone,
I am the new owner of a mint condition 190 2.6 with 92,000 miles. Here is the history I have on the car.....The car was a one owner and it sat up for about a year then was driven for about 3 weeks with the car having major problems starting after taking out of storage. Once the car is started it runs great, its just getting it to start that is the hard part. The previous owner has changed the fuel pump and the fuel pump relay. She also says that holding the starter and cranking for about 2 to 3 mins straight will sometimes get the car to start. (I see a new starter in my near future.) Today I tried for several hours to get the car to start. The only thing i get is the smell of raw gas and the occasional "dieseling" of the engine after you stop cranking and let the ignition switch come to the run position. I don't know where to turn and I have searched the forum and not quite sure where to start in trying to get this problem cleared up. I read about OVP and other fixes but im not sure seeing how the car runs perfect after it finally starts. I am willing to put some money into it before i haul it to the junkyard, but i don't want to end up a few hundred in and still no fix.
