Default Tuning??

hey everyone, I´m an enthusiast of "tuned" cars, with big nice wheels, turbo, lots of speakers in the trunck, body kits and stuff like that!

do you like it too?? Is your car "tuned"??

I drive a Tempra Stile (it´s not sold in the USA, so probably most of you don´t know it), and it´s not tuned. All I have is a very loud sound system in it!!! I hope that sometime in the future I can put some nice 17" wheels on my baby...

Well, if you hook up one of those blue bottles like the one in your avatar, or a twin-turbo, nothing else will matter. If you just have sound, a body kit, and a coffee can exhaust tip, we in the USA wouldrefer toyour car as a "slammed ricemobile with a fart pipe."

To me and many others, a tuner is a person or shop that turns a 350 hp engine into a 600 hp engine for under $10K. Lingenfelter, Callaway, AMG, guys like that are tuners, to me. These are some of the high-dollar tuners, of course. They charge you $10K just to use their restroom.

You gotta be careful nowadays, too. You can really mess up a cars intentions by changing too much and not doing the math that goes with it.

Do you have a pic of a Tempra Stile.

If stile - alpine doesn't use the same avatar when he returns and logs in anew, his avatar was a blue NOS brand nitrous oxide bottle.

well, I think that tuning is a more personal thing.

I agree that AMG cars are amazing. But there is the possibility that you are riding your car and pass by another AMG just like the one you own.

I prefer to classify tuning as a car that was modified by the owner itself.

not only engine, I believe that interior and exterior changes are part of it.

I do have pictures of the Stile, but I don´t know how to post them here. Do I have to put an URL??

anyway, if you know a little bit of Italian cars, you can search in the web for it. It was produced by FIAT in the 90´s. Mine is the top model, turbo charged, with all the acessories available (except for leather seats). Stile is the name of this top version.

now I´m in college, but when I get home I´ll post some pictures and then I´ll put the URL here

well, I changed the avatar. Now it´s a little bit more like Mercedes

I posted some pictures of my Tempra in the following URL

http://www.fiatemprastile.blogger.com.br/index.html

here is a small one just for you to see how it looks like... some other at the URL above

it´s not a Mercedes, can´t compare it to a Mercedes, but anyway, it´s what I´ve got

as you can see, I like some loooooooooud music!!

Tuned. Tuner. Just words when the day is done, I guess.

Nothing wrong with personalizing your car. I prefer a more subtle look myself. Just a little lower in the suspension, a little wider in the tires, and a whole lot meaner under the hood.

My V12 makes all the music I want to hear. It's too quiet, actually. When I turn the radio on, I listen to America's Rude Awakening and Vicious SOB, Neal Boortz. I don't need a slew of subwoofers for that.

Okay, there is a little bit of goof in me that's left over from my childhood. I wanted to get a flame decal and put it above my fuel filler door so it looked like my gas was on fire. The door sits too high up on the rear qtr panel, though. The decal would lay mostly on the trunk lid and look stupid. Now I'm looking for a small inconspicuous flame decal that I can put right behind the "V12" emblem on the front qtr panels. The flame decals have to be small and tastefully presented. Does anyone make ghost-flame decals, I wonder? I would put ghost flames all the way down the side.

do you own an SL 600?? if not, what is your mercedes??

I don´t think that german cars are very good to be tuned.

for sure the japanese are better, like the hondas, nissans, etc

about the subwoofers, it´s a different life style, Lugnut. You probably aren´t 19 years old, and I don´t think that in 10 years (when I´m 30) I´ll be driving a car with that amount of speakers in the trunck.

I actually thought that the Mercedes owners wouldn´t like tuning. It´s a different life style, as I said

I agree, it depends mostly on the person, and then on the car the person has.

As I said, a subtle thing here and there on my SL. For me, a tiny decal is standing on the line, but not quite crossing it. I can easily remove a decal when it's no longer humorous to me. It took me a few weeks to decide whether I should tint my windows. I finally did.

I have a Jeep that's jacked to the sky and has huge wheels. Twenty years ago I could just hop up and in. Now I need a step up. My Bel Air has a bunch of parts chromed or stainless that GM just painted. It sparkles like a million electrical shorts going down the road in the sunshine. My Chevelle has a loud exhaust and the new old-looking Cragar SS wheels because I've liked them since I was a kid. First thing I did to my truck was get larger tires because the stock ones looked like pizza cutters and I put nerf steps on it so I wouldn't wear the seats getting in and out. I have a self-contained slide-in cabover Lance camper for my truck. I take it travelling, camping, and hunting. So I don't mind conforming my vehicles to my lifestyle.

Don't get me wrong. I like music and I like to feel it. Really feel it. I'm just not a big fan of having a super-stereo in my cars, anymore. I've had them, but never really enjoyed them. I like to drive a car and I always turned the stereo off so I could enjoy the driving.

Now, about my home system. I have three subwoofers connected to my home theater system. Just the subs total 1600 watts. Two with 18" drivers and one with a 12". There are seven Definitive Technology speakers with BP2000 towers as the main pair and a Jamo sub, each running off a separate channel (true 7.1). There's a Pioneer Elite 7.1 receiver with THX Ultra 2, a Pioneer Elite 64" HDTV, and a Pioneer Elite progressive scan DVD player. I have Monster Cable's best high-end A/C line conditioner and their best surge protector. Just these two boxes take up more than half of my rack. This is where I melt my brain with music and movies. If you're in my theater room and the volume is turned up, your internal organs will be rearranged automatically. Your clothes will vibrate and tickle your skin. And not one bit of discernable distortion. It makes visitors think they can talk and be heard. Never. They'll die trying.

You imply that maybe you outgrow it over time. I'm kinda thinking, no. It just morphs a little.

wwwwwwwwoooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww ww!!!!!!!!

18" subwoofers???? NOW WE ARE TALKING!!!!

I understand what you do to your cars. You like to make them look good and useful. But you don´t care very much if it is the best looking in the city or if other people like ir not. Am I right??

It also seems to me that you like dub style. Big wheels, large tires, but nothing "extreme", right?? I also like it that way, but I also enjoy more extreme tunings.

About your home theater, I can´t find words to describe what I think about it! I´m absolutely amazed.

Anyway, if you could send me some pictures of your cars, I would love to see them. Specially the Chevelle SS. I like very much these V8´s from the "old school". Here in Brazil they are VERY rare. I can´t tell you when was the last time I saw one... That´s pretty sad If you don´t mind sharing some pictures of them with me, you can send to the email guilhermestile@yahoo.com.br

Just explain this to me: what is a '03 John Deer?????
