used Benz from Japan

RE: used Benz from Japan
Buying a used Mercedes from Japan should be no problem, apart from being right hand drive. Here in New Zealand, where hundreds of used cars are imported from Japan, the cars built in Europe are generally of a high standard, depending on how they have been cared for by their Japanese owners. However, the Japanese cars built for their home market and exported as used cars can sometimes be less than desirable.I own a 1995 MercedesC220,84k, which a car importer bought for his own use.It is in perfect condition and still has that new car smell.I had a small problem with the transmisson thumping between 1 and 2 gear.A transmission specialist put it right by overhauling a vacuum pump and servicing the transmission. The dealer I bought the car from met the costs.
I get 8 litres for 100 kms which equates to about 34mpg(imperial).Having owned English Wolseleys and GM Holdens. Owning the Mercedes Benz has put the pleasure back in to driving after driving a taxi for nearly 30 years.

All the fun fizzles and you hear groans when you have to explain yourself.
Did you get Scarmouche's joke? I asked him how to conjugate a noun, which you can't do. He conjugated "screw" to get "scrod" for the joke. Screw, screwed, scrod.
I should have said a horny guy goes into a bar. It would have made more sense. You have to dig a little deeper for my joke. The beer is a brew. I conjugated brew (the verb form) to get broad. Brew, brewed, broad. Get it? Mine isn't as good as Scarmouche's
Yeah, I know, but this IS a car forum after all, not an English class. What do you expect?

If Japan has the same smog and crash standards as the USA, then there's no problem importing a car from there. If not, you need to modify and test/prove that the car meets those standards. This can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and isn't something a sane individual would do, even if they could afford it.
