For awhile now, I've been driving a nice little 86 190D 2.5 w 275K.
Lately, [1] the motor wouldn't shut down w the ignition key, and [2] there's static coming from one of the speakers, even when the radio is turned off and the ignition key removed / doors locked.
[3] Tach and cruise were non-op [since when I bought the car 5K ago] and I would like to fix them as well.
[4] Recently, the doors would not unlock from the trunk [ignition switch, trunk and passenger side door have the only locks that seem to accomodate the one existing key].

[5] Is there a clever way to get the doors unlocked [w/o help from AAA], given that [a] the battery is now dead and/or [b] the vacuum system has sprung a leak?


Aside from that small laundry list of problems, #5 is the most urgent one.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, since no MB-shop is nearby [trans is locked in P]!

Thanks for your suggestion. I did not find a vac pump in the trunk, so we ended up 'molesting' the rh front door to unlock the car. The drain on the battery is gone, too, now the orig. Becker has been replaced w a better spare [out of my 88 300E].
Remaining issues are heater fan and tach n/w. Any suggestions are welcome .
