Another prospective owner..have a chance to buy '78 450SL conv. with 103k miles. Considering for my summer daily driver. How is it in winter, does it have front wheel drive? Afraid it would cost me $$$$$ for upkeep? How reliable are they? I need a presentable daily driver for sales calls but I don't want to spend big money on a new car.
My friend has it but got it from someone else. He says the engine is strong but just needs new top. Please advise! Thank you.

 

Purchased a 300D and all was well, had rebuilt the tranny, and then the a/c. Now it looks like I may have a thrown rod. So, Im faced with decisions....do upgrades and go different or buy a donor car or a replacement motor.
