GL 350 Bluetec Engine blew at 54k miles
6 months ago I purchased a 2011 Mercedes GL 350 Bluetec. Last week while driving on the freeway, the vehicle lost complete power. I had it towed it to the Park Avenue Motors, an authorized Mercedes-Benz service center in Palo Alto, California. After a full inspection they found broken pieces of metal in the oil. Park Ave Motors informed me that the engine needs to be replaced and that because my miles have gone over the warranty by a mere 4,000 miles that Mercedes will not warrant the replacement of the engine. So I called Mercedes 1-800 number in New Jersey and asked for factory assistance since I’ve only recently passed over the 50,000 mile warranty. Mercedes said that they would look into the matter and see how they can help me. Today, 6 days later, Mercedes in New Jersey returns my call and informs me that since I have an after market oil filter, and that I did not purchase the vehicle brand new that there will be no factory assistance. I bought my GL only 6 months ago, spent over $46,000 cash, and now I have to pay over $16,000 to have a rebuilt engine. What should I do? Any suggestions? Please help….
