I have recently (2 days ago) bought a 2006 SLK 280. It was a private sale but the vehicle has been maintained from new by MB and only has 24000 miles on the clock. It was serviced a couple of hundred miles ago.

Yesterday when putting some miles on it, I noticed a vibration/noise at low speeds. It feels as if it is speed related and at first I though I may have had a warped disk (rotor) or rusted one as a result of the evehicle not being used very much by the previous owner, but on listening closer it wasn't just happening when I was braking - it was there when I was driving a low speed.

At high speed it disappears but that could be because it becomes undetectable.

Its difficult to describe, it is just a cyclic vibration.

Any ideas? transmission or engine?

My SLK200 is making lots of noise from the rear nearside wheel under heavy braking so ive purchased brake pads and am going to change them first and try it ,If its still noisy ill have to change the disc as well .
