Transmission Failure 99 SLK 230
After a two-day drive of over 1000 miles with flawless performance, the transmission sounded as if it were filled with gravel the next morning upon start up. Had the car towed in and a used tranny installed. My question is: why no warning lights (tranny overheated light maybe?), why no indications of problem in rough shifting, etc. ??
A month or so before the failure, the transmission fluid level was adjusted at a Mercedes dealership. It seems that losing the fluid, if this is the case,
would cause tranny overheating and a warning.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks...
