Cracked Lens on Driving/Fog Lights

RE: Cracked Lens on Driving/Fog Lights
I had to do the same repair in February. I purchased the entire lamp assy here: http://www.buymbparts.com/
About $60.
I turned the wheels inward to gain access to all the fasteners and removed the entire inner wheel well front cover (the whole piece that contains the plastic door) to access the lamp easier. I think I used an 8mm box wrench to remove the lamp. A bit of a pain to re install, don't lose the small screws, they will be hard to get. There was a wire for remote lens adjustment that I omited before re assembly. I adjusted the lens aim with a #2 phillips with the wheel well cover off. I also changed out the bulb with a sylvania silver star to get a nice white light. The total time for housing replacement was less than one hour.

Baz;
The Osram Sylvania item described is a 9006ST. I believe that is a H3. About $20USA each. They have a nice web site with a bulb locator.
http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...op/default.htm (general product info)
http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...de/default.htm (bulb locator)
The bulb seems a little brighter than stock and removes the yellow hue. I took the housing apart on the original light to clean the suprising amount of dirt from the lens.
And Baz, thanks again for the glove box manual link you posted. VERY helpful. Drew

Thanks Biker..
Took one out . Its an H1.
Relaced the MB Osram one (55w) with an IPF (65w) supposed to be eqiv to 110watts... blah blah.
Same visible light output when shone on a wall... bugger
Sometimes you just cant beat the original Benz chosen bulb []
Might try a relay loom later to see if more output.

The Silver Star bulb is a tad brighter and much whiter that the stock bulbs. I'm with you in that more voltage could be the answer. Let us know if you find a better combination of bulb and modifications. [sm=goodidea.gif]
