I am new to SLK and MB. I am interested in buying a small sporty car, and I like the looks of the R171. Fits the girlfriend as well.
The problem is that I live in Thailand, where second hand "luxury" cars cost an arm and a leg, so I think I can only afford the SLK200 version. I have been looking around at 2nd hand dealers, and a -06 standard SLK200 costs about 67 000 USD here. Higher and lower from there depending on year.

So, to my question. Was there any significant changes after the R171 was introduced in 2004, that would make a later year model a much better buy? I am trying to find one that has the navigation(?) screen in the center console, was that an option or was it standard at some year/model?
Are there any known issues that I should look for when going for a test ride?
