2005 SLK 350 Triptronic wont go through gears!
Heya guys really need your help as I'm scrapping the bottom of the barrell here! Right well our SLK 350 Triptronic (2005) has been sitting for a while so the battery went flat. We jump started it and now theres abit more of a 'clunk' when selecting Reverse or Drive and when in drive everything is normal except it wont go through the gears- it just stays in first. When I tried to change it to semi auto (paddles) or anything else it wont work. The symbol on the dash near the D letter (for drive obviously) just shows the S letter (for sport I guess). When I move the gear lever left it will show 1st gear but will then only up through the gears on the dash even though the car isnt actually going up through the gears!!!
I'm so lost and upset by this so if anyone can shed some light I would be eternally grateful! I'm hoping its just the battery being the issue.

No one has replied about it yet. I've tried to google it as much as possible but all I can turn up is a limp home mode problem. I'm thinking I will just have to replace the battery.. Not going to be buying another mercedes lol way too many problems

Limp home after dead battery
Hard to believe that a battery going low can cause so much trouble.
Had to take my SL500 to a local shop, not MB dealer (Really hate those guys) someone with knowledge of import cars.
The Computer has to be reprogramed, all set points are erased.
In the future I will not winterize my car without battery tender, or starting periodicaly.
My mechanic charged 2 hours labor, them put 50 miles on my car to make sure it was ok! (joy ride)
Still better than MB dealer.
