1995 SL500 auxiliary fans not working
#2
to start. check wiring harness and connections. on my 300 there is a four pin thermostat/sensor on the thermostat housing. with ohm meter test 1 to 3 and 2 to 4 pins. there should be some resistance, the meter will move slighty, if not, relpace. I was going through and just replacing everything on the engine and never had any problems until I replaced it with a new one, the new one was defective. Just because it's new doesn't necessarily mean it's good. Put my old one back in and haven't had a problem since. this sensor can cause hard starting when hot. on my sl it's fuse 7 along with the second and third relays to the inside and the larger middle relay towards the fire wall. I would say it's very unlikely to be any of the relays. Over heating can also be cause by a fan clutch and a bad thermostat. assuming the placement is the same from 90 to 95. you should have a list of fuses and relays describing function on your fuse cover and all should be on the drivers side in the back corner of the engine compartment. test fuse continuity by a test light, ohm meter or by inspecting for cracks or burns.
