1988 560 sl brakes issue
#2
normally one wheel would be extra hot if a problem, if the same on both sides I would think it would be normal. possible calipers could be bad, hardware needs cleaning and lubed or not installed right. the fronts work harder and there is plenty of friction to generate heat with brakes. do you have a lot of stop and go driving? go downhill without shifting down? I've known people to keep a foot on brake pedal all the time.

Hello, Brooking"s is correct. However if the brake fluid is not changed about every 50,000 miles or sooner internal corrosion from water absorbed by the fluid can become an expensive issue. I bought an older car and 3 out of 4 wheel cylinders were not retracting and the 4th was seized. I drove it 1 /8 of a mile on a straight flat road, the loaded it on a trailer. I did not use the brakes except to stop on the trailer deck. I could smell the hot brakes. The remedy was new brake fluid, 4 new calipers 1 disc and all new pads.
