I'm an owner of an '01 S500 Sport in Brooklyn NY. The car just crossed the 50K mark. I'd like to keep the car. I want to refurbish the car to a Certified Pre-Owned Condition. I'm willing to spend what ever it takes, I like the body shape and this particular year of car. Where should I go, Dealer, or shop?

The car needs touch ups, for paint, rims (Scuffs). Some interior shampooing (Headliner). Comprehensive Mechanical Programme to prepare it forthe long road ahead. Back glass needs to be changed (cracked), rear passanger sideglass (cracked). And a check engine sign (I think its the gas cap, not the02 sensor or MAF).The interior vanity mirrors in the front (the magnifiers are cracked, want to replace both). I figure the suspension will go in the future so $2500 adjusted for inflation will be needed in the future I suppose (its starting to set in the winter- but car is rarely used).

I know the ballpark costs (if you know exact costs let me know): Rear glass ($1200 with labor for the special sport glass), Rear pass. glass ($400 with labor), How much are spark plugs with labor?, Transmission oil change?.

^^^ So these are the costs I know about, what about the other checklisted itemsfor the CPO qualification?

So to sum it all up, I want to keep this carfor at least 5 more years.
