S500 Oil bypass tubes replaced after 100kmiles?
I've got a 98 S500 which started a slight "knocking" (lifters I believe). Guy at my local repair shop claims after 100k miles or so, the "oil bypass tubes" for lifters need replaced (get brittle, etc). 16 tubes total. ~$800 job (P&L). Can anyone confirm? or pass info on for this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I had it done on my 94 S500. $800 bucks is a good price. No more knocking and better oil pressure. This guy has helped me alot. Click on this link and go to #19.

well i have seen those tube go bad actually the end pops out of them and is usually only one that it happens to the tubes cost is 18 bucks each that is dealer employee cost so they are pricey. is it a loud ticking noise all the tme or is it a noise that goes away afters the car warms up? if its a loud noise that is there all the time then it is the lifter crossover tubes if it only happens when it is cold it is carbon on the top of your pistons and bottom of your cylinder head.
