Default Navigation question

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have 2000 S430 with cd based navigation, and 2004 ML 500 with dvd based navigation. Once I lived with dvd based navigation, there is no way going back to it. I was wondering if I order dvd based navigation module for my s430, could I just replace the old one since I assume that everything still use the same wiring. I contacted my dealer and was told that it is impossible.

Also my son has 2003 ML430 with cd based navigation, and this unit is still superior to the navigation of S430. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

I have a 2005 E320, The Sat Nav worked fine, and the only thing I have done to the car since it stopped working was changed the Battery, Would this have upset my Sat Nav and if so would you know how to fix it. It currently reads that the car is in the English Channel, and says theres no TMC Reception.
