Default Ignition coil trouble

My 97 S500 just lost 2 ignition coils at a cost of almost 200 each to replace. (not at a dealer) They charged me $108 for each coil.
I just purchased the remaining 6 on Ebay for $193 Shipped.
Is this a common problem?
And what a rip off between 108 and 38 for the same product.

These are, the OEM coils. Mileage is 135K but 17 years old. My dealer recommends changing them all after 100 K miles. What???
Dealer cost would be over 1200.00 .
I'll try the cheap Chinese replacements thanks.
Bought the 6 more I need from Ebay foe 193. shipped.

That's a pretty catty remark. I have owned three MB up to this point ,The latest a 04 SL 55 AMG.
I'm well aware of the cost of Maintenance. Just think the longevity of those coils is not in keeping with Mercedes Quality.
I kept this 17 year old car ,because I fulfills the requirements of my wife.
