Default How to change 1995 S420 headlight bulbs

Hey guys.. great forum and looks like I finally found a place where there is a lot of useful info for a change...

I just purchased my 3rd Benz, which is 1995 S420. Everything looks good, some minor scratches, but overall it is in an excellent condition with 94K mileage...

I want to change the left headlight bulb, as it just burned (it is not the Zeon lights)... I do not have the manual as a reference, so this forum is the only option I have for now (other option is always to see the mechanic, but I rather not if I do not have to....)

I wanted to find out how difficult is it to change the headlight bulbs in this car? Is there some sort of instruction manual that anyone could please refer me to so that I can change it? Will it be better if I change both headlights rather than the one that failed, so that it may prolong their life even longer?

Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated.

Suggest subcribing to online repair information called Alldata: http://www.alldatadiy.com. Very much worth the small annual fee and it has headlight bulb and assembly removal instructions. Might check the basics first, connections, etc. Do you have a light on the instrument panel indicating "bulb out"? If you have standard (non Xenon) headlamps, the bulbs are low costs at all car parts stores: High and Low beam (sedan), both are H 1/55W. Sign up for http://www.alldatadiy.com. Bill Mercer

To respond squarely, if you would lift the hood and remove the top cover and observe into the headlamp well; you'll find another dust and moisture cover. Remove the cover and peer in at the bulb housing. Upon doing this, you'll find that it is simple to replace. Or, you can simply go to the dealership, purchase the bulb. Often times, someone from the Service Department will even put it in for you at no charge. At least that's been my experience where I live. If this information that I'm giving you doesn't work, then perhaps others may be of some help to you. You can also go on-line to manualunlimited dot com and order you a repair manual which is awesome, but it will cost you 80 bucks. Or, finally, you do as has been suggested; Subscribe to Alldata dot com.
