I was driving my wife's 04 S430. There was construction in the road and I drove over a mound of concrete in the road. I felt the car bump and scrape. 100 yards later the car filled with smoke. I pulled over into a parking garage where the car died. The mechanic tells me a fire started in the radio and spread to the wiring harness under the carpet. The wires are now all melted together.
Insurance has not agreed to pay because they see no connection between the bump and the fire. They are sending a "Fire Expert" to look at the car in a couple of days.

HELP Has anyone heard of this. Right now the estimate to fix is $10,000. Insurance says if this has happened before they will pay!

sounds tough to get them to cover by insurance , but the player is the one which makes faulty and created the fire... in your scenario.

i dont think anything got to do with the bump ...
