I recently traded in my 1988 420SEL for 1992 (140) 400 SE. I am unable to find information regarding the car. When I search for the 400 SE, the search results tend to direct me to another body style.

I want to know if the engine is 400 or 420, the original selling price, and if the nomeclature for this 140 is legitmate or someone switched designation. Thanks!

The 400SE, I call it the forgotten S-Class, you always hear 500SEL or S500, or S420. and it is legite

The 400SE has a 4.2 V-8 engine made in the years 1992-1993 production years.
Original selling price $77,900
282hp 302 torque
4 speed automatice transmission
13mpg city
17 mpg highway
Kelly B.Book $11,250-$13,050*
*Note: I don't think the Kelly Blue book people like german imports so the price are a little off. And top condition will sell and can be sold and found at dealerships for well over $13,000.

people also tend to forget that in the W14 body style there was also a 300SD (3.4 diesel) and 300SE (3.2) .

I don't know how often everybody checks the prices of what M-Bs are going for on ebay but it seems to me that you can get a w220 for the same price at a w140. Maybe its just the fact that they are better cars and the public and dealers know it.

I saw a 1996 S600 with 47,500mi with a but it know of $22,400.
I saw a 2002 S55 with a buy it now for $39,995 it had 83,000mi but still.

Why would anybody not buy these cars over a new C-class. Other than if something goes wrong with that 600 it might cost $10000 to fix. Just some food for thought.

I'm not fully familiar with the S class yet, but love the looks of the 2007 S-Class.

Speaking of the 2007 i went to look at them the other day and i am disappointed in the fact that Mercedes in both the R-class and the -class are going to on-the-colum shifters i fell that a Mercedes should have an on the floor and "gated" shifter.

I know both of the admins & the owner. Just asked if they needed help. Lol

An on the floor shifter might have been better off, but they must be going for ease of use which is sensible I guess.
