1986 560 SEL vs 1986 560 SEC purchase
I need some advice. I have driven both cars and they have their =\- about them. The SEL has 133,000 miles and drives strong. Interior is about 8 on 10 scale. The sunroof does not work (makes sound, but doesn't open) and the rear drivers side window does not roll down. Exterior is about 9. Dealer wants $4995, I am thinking offer $4500. The SEC drives strong and has 110,000 miles. Interior is about 8. The sunroof opens in pop up mode, but does not open in slide back mode. Exterior is about 9. It also has some service records (the SEL does not). The dealer wil take $5000.00, no less. I currently own a 1983 300 SD turbo with 334,000 miles. Looking to buy something with more power. Thanks for any info you can offer.

I would take the SEC; typically it would be more desirable (and valuable) than the sedan. The records would be a plus, also. If you like sedans more, then talk them down a little. The self-leveling suspension adds some complication, but not a hill to a stepper.

Sunroof can be fixed i think by two ways: 1) doing it manaually in the trunk(just whip out the manual) and 2) check your fuses. I think SEC is a better deal. Except i have a 91 420 SEL and it eats gas like no other.
