Default Power Window - Driver Side

My driver side power window has suddenly stopped working - it goes down but does not go up. I keep playing with the switch and it suddenly comes up but then roll it down and that's the end of it. I have a 2000 ML 430.

HELP PLEASE...what could it be? window motor? how much does it cost to get the switch fixed? I thought i loved this car but it barely has 68K miles and I have developed a migrane - its something new everyday that goes wrong with it..help pleaseeee!!!

it is a common problem with the switch group.

short time solution is to swap the right and left wiring so you don't need to open the door just to pay on the toll gate.

The "Switch Group" is the whole pack of switches on one board in the center console, not hard to replace with common tools and the Mercedes part is only about $75.00 US dollars from GERMANSTAR.COM

call your local MB dealer. This is a common problem with the ML and has happened with my 2000 ML 320. Many dealers will repair the issue for free if not purchase the part over the internet and is very easy to replace.

Have a 99 ML320, same issue. Dealer fixed it (replaced switch box) for ~200 total (parts + labor).

Very common problem with ML's. If you don't have a warrantee you can usually find the switch module on ebay for about $60. Really easy to replace.

I changed mine out then the new switches started going bad after about 6 months. I took it apart, re contoured the switch actuators, used some pieces from the old switch cluster (I keep everything, except receipts) and now it works great. I did lose that detent where the switch goes from manual down to auto down, but its a small price to pay. It is this detent that ends up breaking the switches because it is grabby and causes side loads on the switch which breaks them.
