ML320 1998 Dash lights go out, when lights on
My wife has a 1998 ML320 with 135,000 miles. We had a local shop do an oil change and tried to reset the maintenance dash info.
NOW, when she turns on the headlights, the dash light and digital odometer lights go out. When she turns the headlights off the digital info comes back on????
I checked fuses (just guessing) and now the LOW RANGE warning light and CHECK ENGINE light are on and the vehicle will not shift out of low gear.
Any help?? This is the first time we did not have a dealer do the Service Reset.
thanks,
mab

RE: ML320 1998 Dash lights go out, when lights on
I Feel SOO Stupid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The dash lights go out when turning on the lights?? The reset lever on the dash controls the dash light dimmer. When the local garage tried to reset the maintenance alert, they turned the reset/dimmer all the way counter-clockwise, ie, dimming the lights. All I had to do was turn the reset **** clockwise and dash lights and odometer are as bright as ever.
As far as the Low Range light, I check the transfer case fuse #8. Sure enough it had blown. Replaced with 25A and all is well. However, the Check Engine light isstill on, but it may be due to all the drama that the vehicle justexperienced.
Thanks All,
mab
