Hi abro
I have a 2003 ML350 and get about 18 mpg around town but on the longer runs average 70mph i get around 23mpg, these are based on imperial not US gallons. I had the car converted to run of LPG as it is half the price of petrol over here in the UK, makes it much more afordable. Just for info over here we pay around £0.94 per ltr of petrol/$1.66 so i guess a us gallon would cost $6.30 if you were here in London.

My 03 ML350 is getting around 15mpg too, with highway driving. I am a little bit disappointed with the mileage I get from the car.

For people who lives in California, 80-85 miles on freeway is normal. We are just trying to follow the traffic.

For comparison, my "02 ML500 got 19 mpg consistently from NJ to Fla. on a recent trip. Cruising around 75- 80 most of the way. 15 on the highway seems low, it should be around 20 or so.
Regards,
Jerry

I have a 2003 ml350. Gets 20 mpg at 70-85 on a 600 mile trip.
Radar detectors AND CB will help a great deal. BUT I have been clocked and passed by a trooper going 80 in a 65 zone. Go figure!
If your detector indicates laser. Slow down and be ready to be pulled over. The laser bands are sooo narrow that most detectors will not tell you unless you are the victim.
Don't forget that some of these new high end vehicles are also sending out radar with their cruise control devices.

We average 17-18 at 80-85 MPH on our ML320.
It goes over 20 MPG on fuel out of California.
I live in West LA and get 16 in the City 19 hwy.
The Gas in California is CRAP. They add so many chemicals to it the BTU value of a Gallon of 91 Octane is slightly less than Arizona 89.
On AZ gas I get 22mpg Hwy and 18 City.. Go Figure.

You guys should come to Mexico, here everybody drives as fast as they want. If a cop stops you it only requires between 20 and 50 bucks to get you out the hook. Back to the topic, our 2003 ML350 just get 11 mpg city and 20.8 mpg highway (not speeding)
