Default Climate Control Calibration

I have a 98 ML320 and the other day I found that the center dial that adjusts the heat temperature has changed calibration. The normal position of this dial should range from far left to the start of blue to the far right stopping on red. Centered is white.
The dial is now totally calibrated several clicks to the left. It still functions but is definitly off center.
I have tried to force it back with no luck and do not wish to cause further damage.
Any suggestions?

Has anyone been in there? they are controlled by cables, i cant see how the ***** would change like that. you can fix if you take out the climate control unit and redo the cables, maybe something broken inside.

Thanks for your quick response. In fact I had it in with the dealer last week to have a new key programed. Could they have possably knocked ot out of calibration? I know they had to access a computer system but not sure if it is even located in the same area.

no, a new key should have nothing to do with it. I dont remember but I think the ***** accually pull off, maybe try to pull off and reinstall ****. you might have to pull on **** a little hard to get it off. Im not sure if you have to remove the cover over the unit first though.
