Hi,

I have a 1998 ML320 that we just got for my wife. It came with two keys (large flip out fob style with lock/unlock and panic buttons).

I am wondering if same on a MAzda I owned, if it is possible to buy a third key and follow a procedure to have the third key activated on my own, or must I take it to a dealer.

Digging around I see that AFTER 1998 it looks impossible. I am hoping 1998 and older is easier?

Must I order from dealer and have this initialized, and do they need my vehicle to do this ? ( I am 8 hours away from nearest dealer) .


any insight is appreciated. I am ok for now, but would like a 3rd key for a spare.

have to go to the dealer to learn the key..it will start the car but the central locks wont work.. you might be able to go to an independant benz place and if they have the equipment they could do it for you.

 

i was informed by my dealership that is located in richmond va that a basic key with out the remote entry can be had for around 25 dollars. you must provide title and regestration to show proof of ownership.
